Chosing music for you CT wedding ceremony does not have to be as difficult as it can seem. No matter what size wedding you are planning on having (that is, whether it is large and formal at a cathedral or a small collection of people at your home) the music played at all points in the ceremony will personalize it. There are some differences concerning how to choose the music you want based on where the ceremony is going to occur. For example, if you are getting married in a church, you should discuss your selections ahead of time with a clergy-member. This is because most churches will allow you to include more popular music along with secular music, but you should make sure your church is one of those in advance. If your ceremony is in a church, many people will be expecting choices of more traditional and religious songs. You should also find out what instruments your church has available, for instance an organ or piano. Your clergy-member could even help you find someone to play at your ceremony who has experience performing at similar events. The person (or people) that your clergy-member recommends will already know a large range of appropriate music from which you can choose as well as have the ability to perform other pieces you desire, if given the music in advance so there is time to learn the piece or pieces. Other instruments are also considered favorable at this point in time including classical guitar, harp, string quartet, or duos of harp and flute, piano and flute, trumpet and flute, trumpet and violin, etc. You could also have a single vocalist or a small vocal ensemble perform, preferably a piece that has lyrics that are special to you or your family. Again, you can talk to your clergy-member to recommend possible vocalists. You can combine styles, as well. Just make sure that the different styles work well together. For example, an organ piece directly followed by a song that is popular is probably not the best combination. If you have opted to get married in a private home or the location where your reception is being held, there are many more options. Basically, you are only limited by the boundaries of your taste. Whatever you choose, try to keep in mind that your selections for your ceremony set the tone for the reception. Also, make sure to choose songs that you like because this is, afterall, your special day. You should also make sure that you like the various instrumentalists and vocalists that you hire, that is, you should at least listen to them before you decide to book them for your ceremony so you can know if they are the right match for you. |
